Valtrex brand

Chemically speaking, Valtrex is the hydrochloride salt of L-valyl ester of antiviral medicament acyclovir. It is administered orally. The caplets is consist of 500 mg to 1 gram of valacyclovir and inactive ingredients carnauba wax, colloidal silicon dioxide, crospovidone, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, polysorbate 80, povidone, and titanium dioxide.

Mechanism of Action

Valtrex brand is orally administered, once it is inside the body, the remedy will immediately convert into acyclovir and L-valine in your gastrointestinal tract. Valacyclovir is a nucleoside analogue DNA polymerase inhibitor. Studies show that when Valacyclovir is converted into acyclovir, it will have an anti-viral effect against HSV type 1 and 2. Different enzymes will cause acyclovir to undergo conversion; from acyclovir monophosphate to diphosphate and finally to triphosphate. This acyclovir conversion is essential to activate its biochemical properties which will inhibit replication of herpes viral DNA.

It is believed that there are at least three mechanisms involve to accomplish the inhibition of herpes viral replication. One is the competitive inhibition of viral DNA polymerase. Two the remedy has to eliminate the existing chain of viral DNA growing inside the body. Three is the inactivation of viral DNA polymerase.
