Introduction: Generic Mobic (meloxicam) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicament that is used to relieve symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. The medication works by inhibiting certain enzymes involving in inflammatory processes.

Generic Mobic

 Pharmacology: Generic Mobic is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine (NSAID) that exerts analgesic, anti-pyretic and and anti-inflammatory action. The mechanism of anti-inflammatory action is associated with suppression the enzyme COX-2  - cyclooxygenase type 2. Cox-2 is enzyme that participate in synthesis of inflammatory mediators – prostaglandins.  Meloxicam is a selective medication that does not affect COX-1, participating in synthesis of prostaglandins that protect stomach mucous lining and regulate blood circulation in kidney.

 Indications: Generic Mobic is used to relieve symptoms of:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis

 Contraindications: Generic Mobic is contraindicated for use in the following conditions:

  • “Aspirin” bronchial asthma
  • Aggravation of stomach and duodenal ulcers
  • Severe kidney failure
  • Severe liver failure
  • Children under 16 years of age
  • Diabetes
  • Pregnancy
  • Breastfeeding
  • Lactation
  • Hypersensitivity to any components of the medication
  • Severe  bleeding problems


The medication should be used with caution in elderly patients, patients with stomach and duodenal ulcers, diabetes, chronic alcoholism, smoking.

 Adverse effect: The Generic Mobic may cause the following side-effects:

  • Heartburn
  • Infections of the upper respiratory tract
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Infections of the urogenital system
  • Joint pain
  • Swelling
  • Anemia
  • Headache
  • Insomnia
  • Meteorism

Less common Moxofloxacin side effects include: chest pain, weakness, shortness of breath, slurred speech, allergic reactions, stomach or intestinal

 Interactions: Generic Mobic should not be used with the following groups of drugs or preparations:

  • ACE inhibitors
  • Angiotensin II converting enzymes
  • Beta blockers
  • Bile acid sequestrants
  • Corticosteroids
  • Diuretics
  • Cardiac glycosides (digoxin)
  • Immunosuppressors (cyclosporine)
  • Blood thinners
  • Lithium preparations
  • Thrombolytics
  • Other NSAID's
  • Antidepressants
  • Psoriasis and cancer treatment (methotrexate)
  • Uricosuric drugs (probenecid)
  • Herbals

 Attention: Generic Mobic tablets should be room temperature our of reach of children. Shelf-life is 2 years.
