 Introduction: Clarinex contains the active ingredient desloratadine which belongs to a group of anti-allergic medicines called H2-histamine receptor blockers. Clarinex helps relieve seasonal and indoor allergy symptoms, including hives and itching.

Clarinex

Pharmacology:Generic Clarinex contains the active ingredient Deslorantadine which is peripheral H1-histamine receptor blocker. The preparation is an active metabolite of lorantadine. The Clarinex inhibits a number of allergic reactions amongst which are release of inflammatory cytokines, interleukins and etc. The drug prevents the development and suppresses the ongoing allergic reaction, the preparation also exerts antipruritic and antiexudative effects, decreases the permeability of capillaries, prevents edema development and smooth muscle spasms. The drug does not exert any sedative effects and does not affect the speed of psycho-motor reactions.

Indications: The preparation is indicated in treatment of:

  • Seasonal and year-round allergic rhinitis
  • Chronic idiopathic hives

Generic Clarinex is contraindicated in:

  • Pregnancy
  • Breastfeeding
  • Age prior to 1 year in cases when the drug is supplied in a syrup form
  • Age prior to 12 years if the drug is supplied in tablet form
  • Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparation

The drug should be used with caution in cases of:

  • Sever renal failure

Adverse effect: The Clarinex may cause the following side-effects:

  • Cardiovascular system: tachycardia, increased heart rate
  • Gastrointestinal tract: increased activity of liver enzymes, increased bilirubin concentrations, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia,
  • Allergic reactions: anaphylactic reactions, rash, itching, hives
  • CNS: headache, insomnia, somnolence

Interactions: Clarinex should not be used with the following groups of drug or preparations.

  • Antibiotics
  • Antimycotics
  • Antidepressants
  • H2-histamine receptor blockers

Attention: The drug should not be administered without a consultation with a health care provider. Keep out of reach of children.
